¡Globalquerque!
In 2005, AMP Concerts and Avokado Artists, working the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC), launched ¡Globalquerque! – New Mexico’s Annual Celebration of World Music and Culture. The inaugural festival was an affiliated showcase event of the Western Arts Alliance (WAA) Conference and featured thirteen international and local acts (over 100 performers) on three stages in one night at the NHCC. The event created a national and international buzz and was attended by notable presenters, agents and record labels from all over the country. In 2006 ¡Globalquerque! expanded into a weeklong, statewide celebration of international culture with elements spanning the entire state, culminating in the two-day festival at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, featuring educational workshops, community outreach events, the Global Village of Craft Culture and Cuisine and, of course, the best in World Music on three distinct stages. ¡Globalquerque! has hosted artists from more than forty countries and from across the US. In 2008 the festival hosted twenty performances by seventeen acts from five continents performing on three stages over two nights. The festival is unique to the Southwest and Rocky Mountain regions, one of only a handful of like events around the country, and recognized as one of the premiere destination events of its kind. The 5th Annual ¡Globalquerque! will take place on September 25 & 25, 2009.
