With her warm voice and roots reggae generating a universal flavour that is coloured by her cultural heritage, Empress Deeqa lights up the stage.

Empress Deeqa was born at Mogadiscio, in Somalia. As far back as she can remember, she has always sung, to the point of exhaustion. One day a woman, hearing her voice, asked her to join the children’s choir she led. Her mother agreed willingly, with undisguised pleasure. Empress Deeqa was then five years old. She already dreamed of being a reggae singer.

With the soul of a poet and a hint of Caribbean rhythms scented with jazz, he gets his audiences soaring into the heart of the tropics. A great breath of fresh air.

Born in Montreal in 1976, Doody lived in Haiti for 17 years. Following his father’s murder, Doody’s family made the reverse journey, returning to Quebec, where Doody studied engineering.

As an amateur guitarist, he played for his own pleasure and focused on his studies until the day he caught the virus of the stage without warning. One evening he attended a concert given by his baptismal brother, also a musician, who asked him up on stage. Adrenalin then took over. He would make music his trade, despite reprimands from his family, who saw this decision in a very bad light. This was in 2003. He had just finished his studies and found himself taking a very different path from the one set out for him.
